This Strawberry Salsa is the best fruit salsa recipe you’ll have all summer! It’s my viral 6 ingredient recipe that pairs well with chips, on top of fish, or alongside grilled steak or chicken.

When I tell you the flavor of this Strawberry Salsa is unreal… I mean it! I’ve been making since 2015, I’m not joking when I say it’s a staple summer recipe in our house. I used to make it in huge batches and sell it at a local farmers market and it would sell out so quickly. It’s the best way to showcase those beautiful ripe summer strawberries.

With just 6 ingredients and about 10 minutes of prep time, this fresh salsa comes together so quickly! And I’ve even started using a chopper for the ingredients which cuts the prep time down to just 5 minutes. I make this almost weekly when the warm weather arrives and serve it as a snack, appetizer, or condiment for all sorts of grilled proteins. It’s even delicious on top of a salad! If you love a homemade salsa, my Pickle Salsa and Watermelon Salsa are two others you should definitely try.

Why You’ll Love this Recipe

  • Salsa that shows off summer fruit! When strawberry season comes around this is my favorite recipe to make multiple times a week.
  • A fresh homemade salsa is so much better than store-bought. One bite of this strawberry jalapeno salsa and you’ll never go back.
  • Easy to make in 10 minutes or less. Minimal stress and minimal clean up. It’s that easy to make in a single bowl.

Ingredients

  • Strawberries: Make sure they are bright red and very ripe for the best flavor!
  • Large red onion: Soak the onion in ice water for 10 minutes to take some of the bite out. Drain and pat very dry.
  • Jalapeño: Seed the jalapeno for a mild spice level and finely dice. You can also omit it completely if desired.
  • Juice of a large lime: Make sure the juice is fresh for the best flavors.
  • Blue agave syrup: Lightly sweetens the salsa to balance the acid.
  • Cilantro: Fresh cilantro adds that bright and zesty flavor to the strawberry salsa.

How to Make Strawberry Salsa

  1. Chop all of the ingredients.

Expert Tips

  • Hull the strawberries before chopping. Use a small pairing knife and remove the green tops!
  • Make sure the strawberries are deep red in color. This means they are very ripe and will have the best juicy, sweet flavor.
  • Add other ingredients to the salsa. You can easily add other berries, watermelon, or even diced tomatoes for a twist.
  • Use a veggie chopper for ease! If you don’t like chopping, buying a chopper makes it truly stress-free with minimal clean up.
  • Serve with all different grilled proteins like steak, salmon, shrimp, and chicken. This salsa can pair with pretty much any summer menu.

Storage

Store any leftover strawberry salsa in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Give it a fresh stir and allow it to sit out for 10 minutes to take the chill off before enjoying the leftovers.

We don’t recommend freezing the salsa or making it too far in advance or it will muddy the flavors.

FAQs

How to I prevent strawberry salsa fro becoming watery?

Make sure you enjoy the salsa fresh and don’t let it sit in the fridge for too long. If the strawberries are very juicy, you can drain them on a paper towel before combining them into the salsa.

Is strawberry salsa spicy?

It can be if you add jalapeno or a spicy chili to the recipe. If you prefer a mild salsa, you can easily omit it.

What are the ingredients for strawberry salsa?

Add fresh strawberries, cilantro, red onion, jalapeno, and lime juice. A drop of honey or agave can also help to round out all the flavors.

You all know that I live in the middle of nowhere so getting material to me is quite difficult, but I was able to order everything for this project online through @truevalue. From the weed barrier, to the rubber mulch, wood sealer, and this cute bench, this project took me an afternoon to complete and it looks so much better! If you haven’t yet checked out true value for all of your outdoor needs, they have so much to offer, especially online! #TrueValuePartner
