I love making salsa verde for our tacos or for a quick dip to go with some chips at night and decided to put a fun twist on it since I’m doing a pickle series and do a pickle Verde. I’m not even kidding you when I say how incredibly good this taste. It is so flavorful and imagine it on your tacos or burgers or just with a side of chips.

Welcome to our kitchen! Today, we’re diving into the vibrant world of Pickle Verde, a zesty, green twist on traditional verde that adds a burst of flavor to any dish. This recipe is perfect for those who love a tangy, spicy kick with a hint of freshness. Whether you’re a pickle aficionado or a newbie, Pickle Verde is sure to become a staple in your culinary repertoire.

What is Pickle Verde?

Pickle Verde, or green pickle, is a unique and flavorful variation of traditional pickles. It combines the crispness of cucumbers with the bold flavors of green chiles, cilantro, lime, and garlic. This pickle is not only delicious on its own but also makes an excellent accompaniment to tacos, sandwiches, and grilled meats.

Ingredients

To make Pickle Verde, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • 1 jar dill pickles
  • 1 teaspoon dried drill
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2-3 Tbsp dill pickle juice
  • 1 jalapeño (seeds removed)

Instructions

Take the dill pickles out of the jar. Put the pickles, jalapeño, garlic cloves and dill in a blender cup and add some of the pickle juice, a tablespoon at a time.

Blend until smooth.

Taste and add in more hot peppers until you reach the desired level of heat, adding more pickle juice as needed to get to the consistency/thickness that you want.

Enjoy!

Tips and Variations

  • Spiciness: Adjust the number of green chiles to control the spiciness. For a milder pickle, use fewer chiles or opt for a milder variety like Anaheim peppers.
  • Herbs: Experiment with other herbs like dill or parsley for a different flavor profile.
  • Vegetables: Try adding other vegetables like carrots, bell peppers, or radishes to the mix for a colorful and crunchy variety.

I had only moved there 3 months prior to start over and really find myself. I had this random idea pop into my head to start a business, I was going to teach myself how to paint, create handmade items and sell them locally. I put zero thought into the name and decided to call my business “The Sassy Barn”.

10 years later, The Sassy Barn has surpassed my dreams. To our customers, retailers and my family and friends (who would buy from the trunk of my car at family reunions 😂), I can’t thank you enough for your business and support. I can’t wait to see what else this journey holds ❤️
