How to Make Air Fry Rotisserie Chicken
Every air fryer is different, so cook times may vary slightly. This method works perfectly in a Ninja Crispy-style air fryer, but can be adapted for other models.
Step 1: Prepare the Chicken
Remove the giblets from the chicken and pat it completely dry with paper towels. Dry skin is key to achieving crispy air fryer rotisserie chicken skin.
Step 2: Season
Rub the chicken all over with olive oil. Season generously with salt, pepper, garlic salt, and onion powder, making sure to coat all sides.
Step 3: Air Fry
Place the chicken breast-side down in the air fryer basket. Set your air fryer to air fry mode or 350°F and cook for 60 minutes.
Step 4: Flip and Finish
Carefully flip the chicken over and cook for an additional 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F in the thickest part of the thigh.
Step 5: Rest and Serve
Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before carving. This helps the juices redistribute for the most tender meat.
Tips for the Best Air Fryer Rotisserie Chicken
- Always pat the chicken dry before seasoning
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket
- Use a meat thermometer for perfect doneness
- Let the chicken rest before slicing
- Save the carcass for homemade chicken stock

Putting a whole chicken in an air fryer is the only way I’ll make a chicken. It is so easy and stays super juicy! There isn’t much to it either, you need to let the chicken cook a whole hour but other than that, it’s easy peasy!
I use this airfryer and it fits a whole chicken, I have been so impressed with this airfryer!
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken
- olive oil
- salt & pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion salt
Instructions
- Take your chicken and Pat it dry. Place it in the airfryer and coat in olive oil. Mix together all the spices and pour half on and rub it in. Set air fryer to 60 minutes at 350 and let cook. My airfryer does not have a temp setting, so I set it to 60 minutes and airfry mode. Once cooked, flip, coat in olive oil and rub in remaining seasonings and cook another 30 minutes at 350 or set back on airfry mode.
- Take out, carve and enjoy with your favorite sides!
