This Dill Pickle Salsa is one of my most popular recipes both on social media and on my website. Thousands of you have made it and I understand why, it’s easy to mix together in a single bowl with limited time and has so much flavor. Serve it on top of a cheeseburger and you can’t go wrong.

Are you a dill pickle lover looking for a unique and refreshing way to enjoy your favorite tangy snack? Say hello to Dill Pickle Salsa! I kept hearing about the viral pickle salsa and figured I need to make it myself. It’s so easy to whip together with only 8 ingredients and just a little bit of time. When it’s a busy weeknight, this salsa recipe can elevate any grilled meal to the next level with minimal effort!

This delightful concoction combines the bold flavors of dill pickles with fresh veggies, making it a perfect dip for chips, a topping for grilled meats, or even a unique addition to your favorite sandwiches. This salsa blew my family away, now my husband requests it for barbecues all the time. I love making homemade salsas, my Watermelon Salsa and Strawberry Salsa are two others that are delicious too.

Why You’ll Love this Recipe

  • Quick to make. With just 10 minutes, this condiment or dip is so delicious and flavorful.
  • Fun for any summer menu. I get so many compliments anytime I make this pickle salsa or bring it to a party.
  • Upgrade so many recipes. After I served this for a backyard barbecue a few years ago, it’s now been added to pretty much any cookout we have!
Ingredients for pickle salsa.

Ingredients

  • Diced pickles: Dill pickles are classic here, but feel free to have fun with other types of pickles you already have at home.
  • Cucumber: Buy English for ease of not removing the seeds.
  • Tomato: Seed the tomato before dicing it for better texture.
  • Red onion: Adds bright color and flavor. Soak the red onion in ice water, drain and pat dry to take some of the bite out.
  • Jalapeno: Spicy in flavor, omit if you prefer mild.
  • Garlic: Always mince it fresh for the best flavor.
  • Chopped fresh dill: Adds bright herby flavor that compliments the pickles perfectly.
  • Pickle brine: This is the acid that brings the whole salsa together making it tart and delicious.
  • Pepper: A little pinch of pepper is great to taste.

How to Make Dill Pickle Salsa

  1. Start by dicing up all your vegetables.  I like to dice mine into very small pieces using my chopper as it has the perfect attachments for small pieces, but you can make yours a little chunkier if you’d like too!

2. Add the diced pickles, cucumber, tomato, red onion, jalapeno and minced garlic.

3. Next, add in your fresh dill, pickle brine and pepper.

4. Mix everything together well and season with salt to taste! Dip with corn chips, a side dish or a topping for burgers, tacos and more!

Expert Tips

  • Add other ingredients. Experiment with additional ingredients like chopped bell peppers, cucumbers, or olives for added texture and flavor.
  • Adjust the heat: If you love spicy food, keep the seeds in the jalapeño or add a splash of hot sauce.
  • Add a hint of sweetness. Add a small amount of chopped pineapple or mango for a sweet and tangy contrast.
  • Swap the cilantro for another type of herb. If you’re not a fan of cilantro, try using fresh dill or parsley for a different herbaceous flavor.
  • Use a mixture of different kinds of pickles. Use some dill, but add spicy or sweet pickles depending on your preference too!
  • Avoid salting the salsa. There is so much salt in the pickles and brine, it won’t need it!

Storage

Store the leftover pickle salsa in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. When ready to serve, give it a fresh stir and let the chill come off for 10 minutes or so.

We don’t recommend freezing the salsa since it will change the texture once thawed. If you want to make it in advance, go for it! The flavors will get better with time. Just don’t make it too far in advance or the salsa may become watery.

FAQs

Why is my dill pickle salsa watery?

You may have let it sit for too long or didn’t drain the pickles long enough after dicing them before adding them into the salsa.

Is dill pickle salsa spicy?

It depends, you can add chili if you desire or you can omit for a mild salsa.

What does dill pickle salsa pair well with?

Serve it with chips or serve it alongside a burger, barbecue, grilled chicken, ribs, or even salmon.

You all know that I live in the middle of nowhere so getting material to me is quite difficult, but I was able to order everything for this project online through @truevalue. From the weed barrier, to the rubber mulch, wood sealer, and this cute bench, this project took me an afternoon to complete and it looks so much better! If you haven’t yet checked out true value for all of your outdoor needs, they have so much to offer, especially online! #TrueValuePartner
