We LOVE chili in our house, and this is my GO-TO recipe! It’s easy to make and leftovers are fantastic. This dish is perfect for the Fall or Winter- a cozy night in, or to share with friends and family! We top ours with cheese and sour cream but pick whatever you like to top chili with! It is also SO good served with warm cornbread or tortilla chips!

Let’s get started!

Prep Time 10 minutes mins

Total Time 55 minutes mins
Servings: 4
Course: dinner, Main Course
Cuisine: American
Ingredients Method

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground sausage mild or hot
  • 1 28 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 2 T tomato paste
  • 1 green pepper diced
  • 1/2 yellow onion diced
  • 2 cans kidney beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 can northern beans drained and rinsed
  • 3 T chili seasoning
  • Dash of salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/4 C water

Method

  1. Start by cooking your ground beef and sausage until fully cooked. Add in your pepper and onion and cook for 5-7 minutes.
  2. Next add in the tomatoes, beans, paste, water and seasonings. Let simmer on low for 30 – 40 minutes.
  3. If doing this in a crockpot, cook your meat first, add to the crockpot along with the other ingredients and cook on low for 5-6 hours.
  4. You can also pressure cook this, follow the same directions for the crockpot and cook on high pressure for 10 minutes.
    Enjoy!

I had only moved there 3 months prior to start over and really find myself. I had this random idea pop into my head to start a business, I was going to teach myself how to paint, create handmade items and sell them locally. I put zero thought into the name and decided to call my business “The Sassy Barn”.

10 years later, The Sassy Barn has surpassed my dreams. To our customers, retailers and my family and friends (who would buy from the trunk of my car at family reunions 😂), I can’t thank you enough for your business and support. I can’t wait to see what else this journey holds ❤️
