The Sassy Barn Chili

We LOVE chili in our house and this is my GO TO recipe! Its easy to make and leftovers are fantastic. This dish is perfect for the Fall or Winter- a cozy night in, or to share with friends and family! We top ours with cheese and sour cream, but pick whatever you like to top chili with! It is also SO good served with warm cornbread or tortilla chips!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground sausage (mild or hot)
  • 1 28 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 2 T tomato paste
  • 1 green pepper, diced
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cans kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can northern beans, drained and rinsed
  • 3 T chili seasoning
  • Dash of salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/4 C water

Instructions

  1. Start by cooking your ground beef and sausage until fully cooked. Add in your pepper and onion and cook for 5-7 minutes.

2. Next add in the tomatoes, beans, paste, water and seasonings. Let simmer on low for 30 - 40 minutes.

3. If doing this in a crockpot, cook your meat first, add to the crockpot along with the other ingredients and cook on low for 5-6 hours.

4. You can also pressure cook this, follow the same directions for the crockpot and cook on high pressure for 10 minutes.
