Servings: 5
Course: Drinks, winter drinks
Cuisine: American
Ingredients Method

Ingredients

  • 1 orange. sliced
  • 1 apple cubed
  • 1 Cup cranberries
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 bottle dry red wine merlot, pino noir, cabernet sauvignon
  • 3/4 cup triple sec
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup cranberry juice
  • 1 tsp whole cloves
  • 2 whole star anise
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • Sprigs of rosemary

Method

  1. Add the oranges, apples, cranberries into a pitcher with the sugar
  2. Use a wooden spoon to stir the sugar into the fruit and gently crush it
  3. Add wine, triple sec, orange juice and cranberry juice to the pitcher. Add the whole cloves and cinnamon sticks
  4. Add the water, sugar, cranberries and rosemary to a pot and let simmer. Take off heat, let steep. Remove cranberries and rosemary, let them dry and roll them in sugar.
  5. Add 1/2 cup of the simple syrup to the mixture.
  6. Stir and chill at least 4 hours – preferably overnight
  7. Use a funnel and pour into ornaments, place lid on top
  8. Serve in a bowl and let your guest grab as they want a drink to pour into a glass
  9. I like to coat cranberries and rosemary in sugar, place them in a glass and place the ornament in the glass for presentation.
    Enjoy!
