Mamaw’s Chicken & Dumplings
There is nothing better than a home cooked meal, especially one made by grandma! My mamaw makes the best ( I said it… the best!) chicken and dumplings I’ve ever had! When I came home for a visit she had a big pot of it on for me and she has shared her recipe with me for y’all!
Let’s get started!

Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken thighs
- 4 cups chicken stock
- 4 cups water
- 4 cups original bisquick
- 1/2 cup self rising flour
- 1 1/3 Cup 2% milk
- Salt & pepper
Instructions
- Take a large pot and fill with 4 cups of water and the chicken thighs. Once the water is boiling add in the broth. Boil on low until chicken is cooked. Take out and shred.
- Place the shredded chicken to the side, mix the bisquick, milk and flour together. You want the batter to be sticky, not wet. If you need to add more milk, do so a tablespoon at a time.
- Get the broth boiling on medium heat and drop the dough by the spoonful into the broth. Cook uncovered for 10 minutes. Add the shredded chicken, salt & pepper into the pot and simmer another 10 minutes.
- Serve it hot and enjoy!

Notes
My mamaw also like to cook a whole chicken instead of thighs sometimes. If you choose to do this, make sure to cover the chicken completely with water and then follow the directions above as usual.
