Man oh man! There is just something about this meal that is so comforting! In PA this was a staple meal made with either a small pork butt or leftover shredded ham and I just can’t get enough! My grandma always added beef broth to it, it’s the secret ingredient that makes it just right!
Let’s get started!
Prep Time15 minutes
Cook Time6 hours
Total Time6 hours15 minutes
2 1/2 cups shredded ham (I use leftover ham)
3 cans cut green beans (save juice from one can, drain the 2 others) or 2 cups fresh green beans, cut
2-3 cups diced raw potatoes (4-5 large russet or yellow potatoes)
1 cup beef broth
Salt & pepper
Whenever we have leftover ham, I always save some, shred it and use it for this meal. You can always buy a small pork butt and use it for this meal. Just place right in the crockpot!
Add in the 3 cans of green beans, drain 2 of the cans and the third can add the juice. If you are using fresh beans, add in 1 cup of water! Add in the raw potatoes, beef broth and salt and pepper.
Let cook on high for 4-6 hours or low for 7-8 hours.
Serve it nice and hot with some buttered bread or cornbread!
