Spaghetti Pie

This comforting Spaghetti Pie is a recipe passed down to me by my grandma and has less than 10 ingredients. It's easy to make ahead of time too and also the best leftovers.
Prep Time 20 minutes
Cook Time 35 minutes
Total Time 55 minutes
Servings: 6 servings
Course: dinner
Cuisine: American, Italian

Ingredients

  • 1/2 box angel hair pasta
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1.5 cups tomato sauce
  • 3/4 cups ricotta
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Italian cheese
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp Italian spices
  • 1 tbsp garlic salt

Method

  1. Get your ground beef cooked up. I like to add in my own spices such as salt & pepper, garlic salt, and of course we can't forget the 21 salute!
  2. While your meat is cooking get your pot of boiling water going for the noodles, your sauce heated up and get your ricotta mixture ready to go. Once the water is boiling add the noodles.
  3. In a small bowl add the ricotta, egg, Parmesan, Italian seasonings and give it a good stir.
  4. Once your noodles are cooked, drain the noodles and place back in the pot. Ladle in half of the sauce to coat the noodles.
  5. Now let's build the pie! Take a deep dish pie pan, make sure it's greased so the noodles don't stick, add in your noodles, enough to cover the bottom. Make a well in the middle of the noodles and add the meat, place your ricotta on top and smooth it out. Sprinkle the Italian cheese on top.
  6. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes, set to broil for a minute.
  7. Serve with garlic bread and the remainder of the sauce

Notes

** A few tips! If you don't like ricotta I suggest using cottage cheese as a substitute! If you are doubling the meal to freeze some pies, buy some tin pie pans, build your pie, tin foil twice and place in Ziploc Freezer bags for future dinners!
