Ingredients

  • 1 pound Italian sausage links sweet, mild, or hot, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large sweet onion sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 15-ounce jar marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Crusty bread or pasta for serving
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Method

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add your sausage, peppers and onions and cook until the sausage is slightly browned on all sides. Add in your seasonings and marinara sauce.
  2. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 15–20 minutes until the flavors meld together and the sausage is fully cooked.
  3. Top with Parmesan cheese or my favorite, sliced provolone.
  4. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and serve over pasta or with crusty buttered bread.
