Cowboy Pasta

This is my dads recipe and is a favorite of mine!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 box pasta (any kind you like)
  • 2 32oz can crushed tomatoes OR 62 oz jar of pasta sauce
  • 1 small can of mushrooms
  • 1 can red kidney beans, drained
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 3 Slices of bacon, chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic, garlic salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, parsley (adjust to your preference)
  • 1 T Sugar (optional)

Method
 

  1. Start by cooking your bacon, you want to chop it in advance and add the pieces to a large pot and get them fried up. Don't worry about frying every piece up. Next add your garlic, pepper and onion and cook until softened.
    Next add the ground beef to the pot and chop it up until cooked and then add in your crushed tomatoes or pasta sauce, mushrooms and beans. Add in all your seasonings and let simmer.
    While the sauce is simmering get your water boiled and cook your pasta.
    Serve immediately with grated Parmesan. Refrigerate or freeze leftover sauce!
