Welcome to the foodie adventure where traditional waffles meet a tangy twist! Pickle and cheese waffles are a delightful blend of savory and tangy flavors that will elevate your breakfast or brunch game. This unique combination might sound unusual, but once you take a bite, you’ll be hooked. Let’s dive into this easy and delicious recipe.
Ingredients:
- 1 jar of pickles, grated (I had 1 1/2 cups of grated pickle)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar
- 1 large egg
- Seasoning of choice
Instructions:
Start by grating your pickle. I love my cheese grater for this task! I grated the pickles into a tea towel and then squeezed all the juice out. You want to make sure you get all the juice.
Place the grated pickles in a bowl.
Add in your shredded cheese, egg and choice of seasonings.
Get your waffle iron hot and lightly spray with oil.
Spoon on about 1/4 cup of the mixture, place the waffle lid and let cook until about 3-4 minutes.
Take out, plate with some ranch, and enjoy!
Tips and Variations:
- Cheese Choices: Experiment with different types of cheese to find your favorite flavor combination. Sharp cheddar adds a bold taste, while mozzarella offers a milder, creamier texture.
- Pickle Preferences: Dill pickles are the classic choice, but you can try bread-and-butter pickles for a sweeter twist or spicy pickles for a bit of heat.
- Make It a Meal: Serve your pickle and cheese waffles with a side of bacon, sausage, or a fried egg for a complete and satisfying meal.
- Storage: Leftover waffles can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat them in the toaster or oven to regain their crispiness.
