Nothing compares to a hot drink on a cold day and truthfully, I love a good French press coffee over our regular ol’ coffee pot. One hot drink that I love hot, is a chai, and being that I live in a small town it’s not easy to get daily and truthfully, if you live on a budget, it’s not ideal to buy everyday (or twice a day if you’re me).

I created a simple version at home, that’s tasty, budget friendly and easy to make in the comfort of your own home.

Let’s get started!

French Press Chai Latte

Print Recipe
Prep Time 3 minutes mins
Cook Time 7 minutes mins
Total Time 10 minutes mins
Servings: 1
Course: chai, latte
Cuisine: American
Ingredients Method

Ingredients

  • 4 1/4 cups milk or non-dairy milk can be used
  • 1/3 cup dark roast coffee ground course
  • 4 chai tea bags
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoon coconut oil optional

Method

  1. Heat your milk in a kettle in a pot over high heat with the coconut oil and honey.
  2. While the milk is heating add your coffee to the french press.
  3. Tear open the chai tea bags and empty the contents into your french press.
  4. When the milk is boiling, take it off the heat and pour it into your french press.
  5. Stir the contents well, then add your lid and let steep for 5-7 minutes.
  6. Press down on your handle (this may take a little jiggling to push it all the way to the bottom).
  7. Pour your latte into mugs and drink up!

I had only moved there 3 months prior to start over and really find myself. I had this random idea pop into my head to start a business, I was going to teach myself how to paint, create handmade items and sell them locally. I put zero thought into the name and decided to call my business “The Sassy Barn”.

10 years later, The Sassy Barn has surpassed my dreams. To our customers, retailers and my family and friends (who would buy from the trunk of my car at family reunions 😂), I can’t thank you enough for your business and support. I can’t wait to see what else this journey holds ❤️
