For all of my beginner homebody baristas out there, this is an easy beginners drink! I love a good vanilla latte. I’ll be sharing how to make the simple syrup and latte!
Let’s get started!
Prep Time5 minutes
Cook Time5 minutes
Total Time10 minutes
1/4 C strong coffee
1 C milk
1 T vanilla syrup (or more) (see below for recipe)
whipped cream (optional)
First make your vanilla simple syrup. You can always just buy the pre-made syrup in the coffee section at the grocery store, but what’s the fun in that?! Combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar and heat, let the sugar melt then add in 3 T vanilla extract (I used Trader Joe’s vanilla bean paste!) mix well, remove from heat and let cool. Store in a jar.
In a pot combine milk and 1 T vanilla syrup. You can always add more syrup if you want it sweeter! Let it heat up but not boil! Once the milk is hot, froth it real good!
Pour your coffee into your favorite mug and pour the milk mixture on top.
Place the syrup in an air tight container and it will last for 3 weeks in the fridge.
Decaf is also an option if you can’t have regular coffee!
