Eat till it hurts

The Sassy Barn Chili


  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground sausage (mild or hot)
  • 1 28 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 2 T tomato paste
  • 1 green pepper, diced
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cans kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can northern beans, drained and rinsed
  • 3 T chili seasoning
  • Dash of salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/4 C water


  1. Start by cooking your ground beef and sausage until fully cooked. Add in your pepper and onion and cook for 5-7 minutes.
  • 2. Next add in the tomatoes, beans, paste, water and seasonings. Let simmer on low for 30 – 40 minutes.
  • 3. If doing this in a crockpot, cook your meat first, add to the crockpot along with the other ingredients and cook on low for 5-6 hours.
  • 4. You can also pressure cook this, follow the same directions for the crockpot and cook on high pressure for 10 minutes.
